Sports Diversity Leadership Committee Storms Phoenix

Members of the Compete Sports Diversity Leadership Committee held a planning meeting in Phoenix March 1-3, 2019. The committee meeting produced the following results.

  • The Compete Sports Diversity Leadership Council (SDLC) has adopted a new name. It will now be known as the Compete Sports Diversity Council.
  • Compete Sports Diversity has updated its mission statement:“Compete Sports Diversity is the global network of LGBTQ+ athletes, sports fans, leaders and allies sharing resources and connections that empower our community and promote diversity and inclusion.”
  • Compete Sports Diversity will expand its presence at the 2020 Sin City Classic by hosting the 10th Annual Compete Sports Diversity Awards at the Sin City Classic. Compete Sports Diversity events and participation will begin on Wednesday, January 15 and run through Saturday, January 18.

Department of Defense Highlights Compete Sports Diversity

The United States Department of Defense has created a diversity course for high school students that includes highlighting Compete Sports Diversity Magazine. We are honored to be recognized by the Department of Defense and to be used as an educational tool for high school students.

Are You a Sports Diversity Leader (SDL)?

Online courses are now available. If you are currently an SDL designee and are ready to begin the required online SDL education program please contact us for your login instructions.

Each online course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and a new course is released each month.
