What does it take to walk or run 5K through the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida? Come June 26, 2021 just a desire to get healthy and have some fun.
Phoenix based Pride Run Series has partnered with St. Pete Pride, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater and Compete Sports Diversity to launch its inaugural Florida race. Pride Run St. Pete will be part of St. Pete Pride on Saturday, June 26. Pride Run St. Pete joins Pride Run Las Vegas and Pride Run Phoenix as premier destinations for inclusive walkers and runners.
“We are excited to be partnering with Florida’s largest Pride celebration” said tournament director Dan Shabra. “The team at Visit St. Pete/Clearwater made the decision to include the city in our series easy. From the initial phone call through planning they have truly been a partner in the city. The route takes the participant down St. Pete’s beautiful coast all the way to St. Pete Pride.”
“St Pete Pride is excited to work with Pride Run Series to bring a new event to Pride Weekend 2021 that showcases our amazing “Sunshine City” and it’s gorgeous waterfront in a fun and healthy way!” added Chrys Bundy, St. Pete Pride’s president.
“We’re thrilled to bring this race to St. Pete and further enhance the St. Pete Pride celebration,” VSPC Chief Operating Officer Tim Ramsberger said. “Events like this further confirm St. Pete/Clearwater’s distinction as an inclusive and welcoming destination.”
The annual race has a little something for everyone. Friday night includes a registration event along with a planned pasta dinner for participants and supporters. Saturday includes an in-person 5K, Diva Dash and virtual run. The Pride Run St. Pete will eventually include a 10K and Half-Marathon. After the race, participants and fans will take part in a awards ceremony and can enjoy the event’s health and fitness expo.
Participants and supporters are encouraged to stay at the Hilton St. Petersburgh Bayfront. The host hotel is near the course and is the gathering sport for all things Pride Run St. Pete and for St. Pete Pride. Special room rates are available on the Pride Run Series website.
