Following in the first steps of WWE’s first openly gay wrestler, Darren Young. Jake Atlas is set to step in the ring in 2020 of the famous television wrestling series. After winning the 2017 Southern California Rookie of the Year Award, Atlas found attention and fame worldwide that led him onto several championship wins and eventually his coming out.
His championships and high-level performances include Pro Wrestling Guerilla and Defy Wrestling. Additionally, Atlas has represented WWE as a “Brand Ambassador” for the company when he appeared on a WWE-Themed episode of “Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition” which helped motivate his decision to sign with the company.
Atlas’ proclaimed goal for signing with WWE is that he wants to be “the first openly gay WWE World Champion during the program.” Despite his relatively short career, Atlas has seen numerous successes that have elevated his status as an athlete as well as make a positive contribution in representing the LGBTQI wrestling community. In addition to his professional career, Atlas also wrestles matches for LGBTQI and ally organizations A Matter of Pride and RISE.
Details have yet to be released on Atlas’ WWE schedule for 2020, but we look forward to his debut!
