The Minnesota Gray Ducks is an LGBT soccer club based in Minnesota and over the last couple years they’ve “rebranded soccer in our community.” They have been an active participant at various International Gay and Lesbian Football Association matches including the Sin City Classic and have enjoyed steady growth as a club. Sports aren’t the most accepting or welcoming space, but Gray Ducks has allowed me to grow as a person and an athlete in a positive space.”
With over 300 athletes, the Gray Ducks offer a men’s, women’s and mixed division for their teams. The official “Gray Ducks Women’s Club” is officially launching for the 2019 season with three teams and 75 members along with 10 teams in the Men’s and Mixed divisions in various leagues and formats. “In total, we will be servicing more than 300 community members locally with soccer and social activities. We head back onto the national stage with a Chicago bound team, and continued work with other clubs and LGBT entities to progress equality and opportunity in sport.”
The Gray Ducks recently competed at the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association’s Indoor Championship at the Sin City Classic where they fielded two teams in the 24 team tournament. Both teams competed in Division 1 and swept the podium for first and second place, they also were honored with the “Tournament MVP” and “Best Goalie” honors.
