The Milwaukee Bucks decided to boycott tonight’s NBA playoff game against the Orlando Magic in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in the Buck’s home state of Wisconsin. Shortly after the Bucks’ announcement the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association decided to postpone all of tonight’s play off games. Those games included Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trailblazers and the Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Bucks players released a statement “calling for justice for Jacob Blake and demand the officers be held accountable.”
Other leagues supported the NBA as the WNBA also announced postponement of their Wednesday games in support of the NBA’s decision to postpone play. Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers also cancelled tonight’s games against the Cincinnati Red and Major League Soccer called off five matches.
