United States Masters Swimming, which is the organization that governs and sanctions adult swimming events and teams throughout the United States, including all the LGBTI inclusive swim teams, has officially released their 2018 national top 10 rankings. The District of Columbia Aquatics Club (DCAC) is celebrating 32 of their swimmers achieving nationwide Top 10 Relay Rankings. Team New York Aquatics (TNYA), and San Francisco Tsunami are also included and West Hollywood Aquatics (WH2O) has the most appearances on the list.

The national rankings list represents the top 10 fastest times posted by U.S. Masters Swimming Athletes in any kind of FINA sanctioned meet in the world. FINA is the world governing body for competitive swimming, for which US Master’s is an official member.

The rankings are divided in between individual events and relay events and are organized by age group and gender. Swimmers are ranked according to their fastest times in each event. Times can be achieved at any FINA sanctioned swim meet in the world and swimmers receive a cool “Top 10” patch that they can wear to show off their accomplishments.

The rankings include the times posted at the 2018 Gay Games held last August in Paris, France. The swim meet at the Gay Games was in “Short Course Meters” where the pool was 25 meters. It was a very competitive with over 1000 swimmers who took part. Many teams, including DCAC, TNYA, Tsunami, WH2O, and others had large numbers of swimmers represented. So, it’s not surprising that more than a few of the teams who competed at the Gay Games are seen on the Top 10 National Rankings. Congratulations to all the swimmers and teams!
