Most people love a good hot dog on the Fourth of July. Since 1916 Americans have been sucking down dogs as part of the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Get ready, put on your bib and…EAT!
The event is happening July 4th in Coney Island and will broadcast live on ESPN. If you think the event’s name is a mouthful wait until you see the contestants wolf down endless hot dogs in pursuit of a pool of prizes valued at $25,000. The event, usually held at Nathen’s Famous restaurant is being held in a private location this year and will adhere to proper health guidelines.
Last year’s winner, Joey Chestnut, held onto his Championship title by eating 71 hot dogs with buns in just 10 minutes. Miki Sudo took the women’s competition by consuming 31 hot dogs with buns.
