Returning again to the fabulous Flamingo Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on the January 11th, 2024, the eve of the annual Sin City Classic. The Compete Sports Diversity Awards or “Peteys” highlights and honors individuals and organizations who have made a positive impact on their community’s in pursuit of advancing diversity, equity/equality, and inclusion in sport.

“We are excited to be honoring these outstanding organizations and individuals who have made great inroads in sports diversity,” said Compete CEO, Eric Carlyle.

The 2024 Awards represent the 14th edition of the annual event, with some of the nominees and award highlights this year including,

Ken Scearce Leadership Award named after the founder of the Sin City Classic to honor his legacy through this award that recognizes leadership and dedication of an individual who has “bettered their local LGBTQ+ sports league”.

Mark Bingham Athlete of the Year named after openly gay rugby player Mark Bingham, one of the heroes on Flight 93 who stormed the cockpit on 9/11. This award honors a local athlete who’s gone above and beyond for their organization and team, both on and off the field.

You can also look forward to other award nominees being recognized in the following categories; Sporting Event Awards-Regional or Local, Sporting Event of the Year Award-Professional, Sin City Classic Volunteer Award, The Spirit of Sport Award, The Pillar Award,  The Beacon Award, Community Hero Award, Welcoming City Award, Corporate Change Champion Award, Outstanding College or University, Sports Organization of the Year Award, Professional Sports Organization of the Year Award, Professional Athlete of the Year.
