One of the signature aspects of every Gay Games, is the Cheerleaders! You can’t have a Gay Games without cheerleaders. Every four years squads come from around the world to show off their spirit and athleticism at the Gay Games. In fact, the cheerleaders are probably the most hardworking of all the athletes there. From welcoming the athletes onto the field at the opening ceremonies and performing amazing routines at the ceremonies, festival village and other events.

They also are often seen carrying buckets and asking for donations to give to a charity that is local to the host city. In addition to all that, they also compete for Gay Games medals!

As a member of the Pride Cheerleading Association, Cheer LA along with squads from all over helped collectively raise $12,000 dollars at the 2018 Gay Games in Paris. The $12,000 was donated to Le Refuge, which is the only organization in France recognized by the State, proposing multiple sources of support (social, medical, psychological, legal, financial) as well as work reintegration and temporary accommodation for young people above 18 who are victims of discrimination related to homophobia or transphobia.

In addition to their philanthropic success a in conjunction with the other PCA Squads, Cheer LA also competed in 5 divisions in the competition and came home with some medal of their own. After a week of cheering, philanthropy and competition, Cheer LA came home with their most successful Gay Games. With 1 Bronze, 1 Silver and 2 Golds to round off the event, Cheer LA is already looking forward to the 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong.
