In case you missed it, the Texas Gay Rodeo Association is holding their annual rodeo event this weekend, April 5th and 8th in Mesquite, Texas. This annual gathering brings in gay rodeo fans and athletes from all over Texas and the region together for an eventful weekend of Gay Rodeo events sanctioned by the International Gay Rodeo Association. The event kicks off with coronation as the TGRA Royalty contestants strive for the honor of representing Texas at IGRA as Miss. TGRA, Ms. TGRA, and Mr. TGRA. Following rodeo events Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the Awards Ceremony Sunday evening to honor the most successful athletes from the weekend’s events.
It’s gay rodeo, so expect all of the most awesome events you can only find at a gay rodeo including Steer Decorating, Goat Dressing, Wild Drag Race and many more. Contestants will be competing for cash purse prizes and (as tradition) honorable belt buckles.
Of course, gay rodeo is a spectator sport as much as it’s a competition. A fun time get together with friends and athletes for the events. Rodeo tickets are $10 each and can be purchased onsite or from any member of TGRA in advanced to enjoy the festivities. All proceeds benefit the Texas Gay Rodeo Association which strives “to elevate the image of men and women in the sports field of rodeo.” TGRA contributes a substantial amount of volunteer effort toward community and charity activities. TGRA holds its annual rodeo every spring as well as sponsors and supports Texas Rodeo athletes taking part in other Gay Rodeo events around the country including the World Gay Rodeo Finals which is the International Gay Rodeo Association’s Championship event that brings together Gay Rodeo associations and communities together from all over the country. The World Gay Rodeo Finals are set to take place October 25th to October 28th in Dallas, Texas. Learn more at www.igra.org
