The WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury is hosting PRIDE NIGHT this week on June 16th to honor and celebrate their LGBTQ+ fans and players. In line with many other Pride Nights of other sports teams, however the Phoenix Mercury are really stepping it up this year to support the LGBTQ+ community.

They have invited 2018 Olympic Bronze Medalist, Adam Rippon as their special guest at Pride Night and are hosting a special auction to raise money for Adam Rippon’s charity the GLAAD Campus Ambassador’s Program. The items include autographed photos of athletes with the rainbow flag, including Openly gay players Brittany Griner and Dewanna Bonner.

The WNBA has been a pioneer for LGBTQ+ professional athletes when Sheryl Swoopes. One of the very first American athletes on the active roster for a professional sports team, came out as openly gay. The Phoenix Mercury are continuing that tradition as they get ready for Pride! It is shaping up to be a very fun night, honoring LGBTQ+ Pride and the WNBA.
