The International Frontrunners, which is a global network of LGBTQI running clubs all over the world has announced that it has signed with Brooks Running Company to promote the growth of Frontrunners clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada to promote the sport of running as inclusive and diverse.

The International Front Runners is one of the first LGBTQI specific athletic organizations. Started in the 1970s it takes its name from “The Front Runner” novel by Patricia Neil Warren about a love story between a runner and his coach. The club was founded in San Francisco but has since expanded to clubs all over the world.

“I’m very proud Brooks is partnering with International Front Runners. We have always believed running is the most inclusive sport ever known—all are welcome. That’s why we’re excited to work with International Front Runners to cultivate opportunities to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ running community,” said Brooks Running CEO Jim Weber. “International Front Runners has a strong reputation of creating community for runners and using the run to build bridges; their history and tradition are impactful, and we look forward to furthering their mission.”

The biggest goal of the partnership is for Brooks and International Frontrunners to collaborate on finding and funding new opportunities for local clubs to build participation in running events and grow the Frontrunners community. From membership drives, hosting local running events, and community events.

“Brooks Running has always encouraged the world to Run Happy and this remarkable partnership extends that message to the LGBTQ+ community. We are elated to have the support from such an inspiring brand to elevate representation for LGBTQ+ runners and walkers around the globe to highlight diversity in athletics,” said Danny Luong, president of International Front Runners.

To celebrate this new partnership. Brooks Running Company is debuting their limited edition “Run Proud Collection” featuring various apparel and accessories that celebrate LGBTQI runners. The collection officially launches on May 15th. Find more information at
