USMNT’s loss to Argentina was “Mess(i)ed” up

Losing 4-0 to the world’s No. 1 team, the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) simply got outplayed in their semifinal soccer match against Argentina last night as part of the annual Copa America tournament.

Following Argentina’s first goal by Ezequiel Lavezzi in just the third minute of the game, soccer star Lionel Messi hit a perfect shot into the upper right corner of the net from 25 yards for a halftime lead of 2-0. The U.S. was never able to get things going and Argentina scored two more goals for the win.

The U.S. team now moves to the tournament’s third place match against the loser of tomorrow night’s other semifinal between Colombia and Chile, the current Copa America champion. It will be played in Phoenix at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona starting at 8 p.m. ET.
