Los Angeles Volleyball Organization Brings Back WeHo Sports Festival for 2016

For the second year the WeHo Sports Festival will take place on the campus of UCLA over Labor Day weekend from September 2-4. The award-winning multi-sport tournament includes several new elements for this year’s celebration, including a Health & Wellness Expo and new opening and closing party venues — the Mondrian Hotel’s famous Skybar for the opening and the La Boheme restaurant for the closing party. The event’s host hotel this year, The Grafton on the Sunset Strip, is offering discounted room rates to those who sign up early.

And new campaign posters have been created by Creative Director Luis Rivera and award-winning photographer Reyes Melendez.

Some people simply dream. The team at the Los Angeles Volleyball Organization (LAVO) dreamed big in 2010 with co-founders wanting to bring Angelinos an organized league that would foster competition and build friendships. And in 2015 LAVO extended that mission by expanding its current services and creating the inaugural WeHo Sports Festival.

The WeHo team, led by Executive Director Eric Gonzales, is passionate about sports, the community and inspiring others. The team values collaboration which in the case of the WeHo team includes years of specialized knowledge of sports management, community outreach, marketing, design, event planning and communications.

LAVO’s mission for the WeHo Sports Festival remains the same:

1. To create a premier sports festival that unites a community and promotes fair play
2. To encourage and support the development of active and healthy communities
3. To cultivate equality in our communities, neighborhoods and partnerships

For its inaugural efforts in 2015 the WeHo Sports Festival took home the prestigious Outstanding National Tournament Award (Multi-Sport) at the 2015 Compete Sports Diversity Awards. The award, presented in Bel Air, was accepted by LAVO Director of Communications, Tracey Reavis.

The festival, which is truly a labor of love, will feature basketball, dodgeball, swimming, soccer, tennis, volleyball and water polo. This year’s event also includes the first-ever Health & Wellness Expo.  For more information or to register, please visit www.wehosportsfestival.com.
